Illustrated Eastern Maar Calendar

Working alongside a local kinder and early learning center and the Eastern Maar representatives, I designed a cyclical calendar to artistically represent the seasons of Eastern Maar country in South West Victoria. The Calendar shows the variety of flora and fauna prominent in this area during certain times of the year. Assisting in the education of children in the history and natural history of the Eastern Maar people and their connection to country.

The final artwork was printed on canvas and displayed in the kinder entrance as a large cyclical calendar as well as smaller artwork which are rotated around during each changing season.

Kooyang (Late January – Late March): The season of eels and parched landscapes.
Gwangal moronn (Late March – End of May): The season of honeybees, sunrises, and flocking birds.
Chinnup (June – Late July): The season of the cockatoo.
Larneuk (Late July – August): The season of nesting birds, high rivers, and cold weather.
Petyan (Late August – Mid-November): The season of wildflowers.
Ballambar (Mid-November – Late January): The season of butterflies and warm, stable weather.
